The Boy and The Man

The young boy wants to stay young forever.
Forever playing in the grass, catching fireflies,
playing pirates and searching for gold.

The old man wants to forget his past.
He wants a wife who will forever be his companion,
And a daughter to whom he can teach and love.

The boy constantly yells at the man,
For wanting to forget who he was.
The man scolds the boy everlong,
for thinking he could stay young forever.

The two argue back and forth;
A never ending maelstrom in my mind.

All I can do is wait to see who finally wins this battle.
Until then, I have to endure my own weakness for not being able to decide.
What is to become of me if neither side wins?
It's too terrible a fate to think about.
